Jags defense has teeth

The Jacksonville Jaguars defense dominated the Ravens Monday night on national TV.  They made the Ravens a one-dimensional team & then they took that dimension away as well.  They clipped the ravens wings to the tune of only 14 yards  & no 1st downs by halftime.  The Ravens were not able to sustain an offensive drive until late in the forth quarter.  The Jaguars were not able to get a TD, but thanks to the cannon-legged Josh Scobee they were able to get the 12-7 win.

Scobee hit 3 of his 4 field goals from beyond 50 yards & they were all right down the center.  The Jaguars were stopped on the 1 yard line due to MJD fumbling the football.  He had 3 fumbles but still topped 100 yards on the night.  The Jags offense started slow, but Blaine Gabbert did make a few nice passes to Hill & Walker & he did not throw an interception.   Marcedes Lewis dropped a TD pass.  I don’t know why he hasn’t been more productive, but he really needs to get back to last year’s form. Coleman then intercepted a Flacco pass to end the game.

Mincey was all up in Flacco’s grill all night long.  Daryl Smith and Poz were flying around.  Session had some big plays & Mathis shut down his side of the field.  The Jaguars got 3 sacks including Lowery race in from his safety position  to flatten Flacco, who was hurried into bad passes throughout the game.  The Jaguars defense also held Ray Rice to just 28 yards running.  All in all, this was a very good showing for the Jaguars defense.  The offense still needs improve in the passing/catching department, but the running game is very solid.

MJD is a top back in the NFL & continues to prove it every game.  Gabbert is getting better too.  The Jaguars defense will now face a Texans team that put up 41 points despite injuries.  If the Jags can somehow find a way to stop Foster from going all gangbusters like he did in the last game, then they will have a chance to get the win.  It will be a very physical game, one decided by the Jags defense’s ability to stop the Texan’s offense.  If they can get the win, they will be right back in the hunt for the division title race.  Go teal & black attack!
