Reports have surfaced, stemming from an article from the Fresno Bee, that the Jaguars are among six teams with scheduled visits with Fresno State OLB/DE Chris Carter. However, reading the article, I’m not sure that I’d go so far as to say that’s true. Here’s the excerpt:
“The whole experience is exciting, but it’s kind of like a roller-coaster ride that you’ve never been on,” said Carter, who has had private visits with the Minnesota Vikings, Oakland Raiders, Jacksonville Jaguars, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Detroit Lions and Tennessee Titans.
Carter “has had private visits” with six teams? Already? Private visits are usually something that teams hold after the players have finished their all-star games, combine workouts and pro days. Fresno State’s pro day was Tuesday. What’s more likely is that Carter has privately talked with those six teams whether that be at the combine, his pro day or the East-West Shrine Game.
Either way, it seems that the Jaguars have shown interest in the 6’1, 248 pound pass rusher. Carter is a bit of a tweener with size very similar to Larry Hart and would probably be used similarly. He is likely to be drafted in the middle rounds of the draft.
