Here’s the Jaguars’ plan to split practice reps amongst the QBs.
“According to Jaguars offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter, incumbent starter David Garrard will take the lion’s share of the snaps followed by first-round rookie quarterback Blaine Gabbert and veteran reserve Luke McCown.
Garrard will get roughly 40 percent of the reps followed by Gabbert (30 percent) and McCown (20 percent).
“What it does is create a situation where Blaine will be learning the offense as if he’s the (No.) 2,” Koette told the Jaguars’ official website. “Luke will technically be the three, but competing to be as high as he can go. It forces Blaine to come along without putting pressure on him to come in and be the starter. .. We’re going to look to balance the reps. That helps define it for the quarterbacks.””
