Rashad Jennings to start week 1 in Minnesota

It appears that Rashad Jennings, as was expected by many, will be the Jaguars’ starting running back week 1 against the Vikings, even if Maurice Jones-Drew finally makes it into camp in the near future.

So far this preseason, Jennings has 175 yards on 36 attempts for an average of 4.9 yards per carry.

I’m a firm believer that the Jaguars will be a stronger football team once Maurice Jones-Drew gets into camp and learns the Jaguars’ new offense, but I also believe that Jennings has the ability to be a starting running back on many, if not most, teams in the NFL. Yes, the Jaguars would be better off starting an up-to-speed Maurice Jones-Drew, but that’s not who’s available right now.

If Jones-Drew gets into camp soon, he’ll likely reclaim his starting position in week 2 or 3 of the regular season, but if I’m the Jaguars, I’m comfortable starting Rashad Jennings against the Minnesota Vikings.
