Why the Jaguars’ draft was better than the Browns’

The Cleveland Browns and Jacksonville Jaguars are two teams in the AFC that are trying to build their way out of the NFL’s basement. Both teams drafted a top quarterback prospect in the first round of the draft. Despite that similarity, the two teams took a very different approach to building in the early rounds […]

Jaguars continue to add weapons with Allen Robinson

Second round draft pick Marqise Lee added more speed to the Jaguars’ receiving unit, but that wasn’t enough for David Caldwell and company. The Jags moved up from the 70th overall selection by giving up the 150th pick in the draft, trading those picks with the San Francisco 49ers to draft former Penn State receiver Allen Robinson. At 6’3″, 220 pounds, Robinson gives the Jaguars a big receiver to target, complimenting the speed of Lee and Cecil Shorts III.

Marqise Lee adds more speed to Jaguars’ offense

Free agency may have been targeted at bringing in defensive players, but so far, the Jaguars have been all about offense. Blake Bortles, selected third overall by the Jags, could provide the team with a franchise passer. With the 39th overall pick, the Jags are trying to give Bortles a weapon by bringing in former USC wide receiver Marqise Lee. (more…)

Five players the Jaguars may target in round 2

The Jaguars used the third overall pick in the draft to bring in a new quarterback of the future. Blake Bortles will be the face of the franchise for years to come if he’s given the right pieces to work with. The rest of the draft will be spent adding players that can make an […]

What Blake Bortles does and doesn’t bring to the table

The Jaguars now have their franchise quarterback going forward, but there’s a ton of work to be done with Blake Bortles. He’s often been described as “raw” leading up to the draft, and that analysis is certainly warranted. Still, he has a lot going for him too. First off, Bortles is huge. At 6’5″ and […]

Blake Bortles is not Blaine Gabbert — don’t be stupid

I’ve been keeping up with fans on Facebook and around the internet comments sections, and one common denominator between various outlets is becoming clear. Blake Bortles is Blaine Gabbert 2.0. Stop. Please stop. First and foremost, there are no concerns about Bortles’ movement in the pocket coming out of the University of Central Florida. In […]

Alex Smith Chiefs vs Jaguars

The problem with predictions

Every year, analysts, fans, random half-wit bloggers and even some players make predictions based off of little more than expectations on which teams will be heading into the playoffs and which teams will be floundering at the bottom of the standings yet again. It’s a process as old as sports, but there are huge problems […]

Jaguars Win 2013

Jaguars given 150-1 odds to win Super Bowl XLIX

Well the odds for the 2015 Super Bowl are out, and it’ll come as no surprise to anyone that the Jacksonville Jaguars were given the worst chances of winning next year’s big game at 150-1. At 100-1, the Bills, Browns, Buccaneers, Raiders, Titans and Vikings are the teams with the second worst odds by William […]

2013 season wrap — the good, the bad and the ugly

The Good The Jaguars’ mantra of improving each week paid dividends late in the 2014 campaign. Usually, teams that start 0-8 are more concerned about avoiding a 0-16 finish than they are playing competitive football. The Jaguars’ second half schedule benefitted them. The Jags were able to win four of their first five games in […]

AFC South divisional outlook, with an astrological twist

The 2013-14 NFL football season has just begun. This is the point where we tend to be on-boarded with excessive gridiron banter, hometown trash talk, baskets of buffalo wings, pitchers of cold beer and Sunday afternoon worship sessions dedicated to our favorite teams. Though the first two weeks have been anything but spectacular for the […]

Fantasy Football: Managing Your Team to a Championship

Once considered an exercise reserved for “geeks” NFL Fantasy Football has exploded in popularity over the past decade or so. Already wildly popular, due to the extraordinary number of betting options associated with it, the National Football League has surged to another level thanks to the broad range of fans that participate in […]

Five keys to a Jaguars victory against the Chiefs

It’s game day! After an offseason of torture, it’s finally time to get back to football. The Jacksonville Jaguars are hosting the Kansas City Chiefs at 1 PM EST today, and it’ll be Blaine Gabbert’s first opportunity of the season to prove that he was actually worth a 10th overall pick in the NFL draft. […]

The Jaguars turn in a bad performance in their preseason opener

I didn’t really want to have to write this tonight, mainly because I haven’t looked at the final stats of Friday’s game, but then again, I don’t really need to see the stats to make a few observations. Forgive me if it sounds like I’m writing from a year ago. My number one complaint with […]

Jaguars fantasy football outlook

2012 was the first year under the new ownership of Shahid Khan and new head coach Mike Mularkey, but it wasn’t enough for the team to get out of the AFC South basement. Their 2-14 record was their worst in franchise history. With a disaster of a season behind them, the team will look at […]
