Week 8 Preview: Jaguars (1-5) at Packers (4-3)

The Jacksonville Jaguars (1-5) travel to historic Lambeau Field on Sunday to face the Green Bay Packers (4-3), in what will undoubtedly be Jacksonville's biggest test this season. With Maurice Jones-Drew out of the lineup this week, after sustaining a foot injury against the Raiders last week, RB Rashad Jennings will get the start. If the Jaguars hope to have any chance in this game, the offense needs to be clicking on all cylinders, because field goals simply won't get the job done against Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers.

After suffering an injury to his non-throwing shoulder last week against the Oakland Raiders, second-year quarterback Blaine Gabbert returns to the lineup this Sunday. When Gabbert went down in the second quarter last week, Chad Henne came in, and his performance was disasterous. If the Jaguars want to have any chance of winning this game, they need to be able to keep Gabbert upright, which may be a tough task against players like Green Bay LB Clay Matthews.

The all-times series between Green Bay and Jacksonville is tied at (2-2), with Jacksonville winning the last two meetings. These two teams last met in 2008 in Jacksonville, in a game that saw David Garrard and the Packers defeat Aaron Rodgers and the Packers 20-16 late in the season. The Jaguars have only played at Lambeau Field once in their history, a 28-25 win in 2004 engineered by Byron Leftwich.

For today's game, the Packers will be without WR Greg Jennings, RB John Kuhn, LB Nick Perry, CB Sam Shields, and S Charles Woodson. After suffering a foot injury on the first series of the game last week, the Jaguars will be without Pro Bowl RB Maurice Jones-Drew, and will again be without S Dwight Lowery. For Jacksonville, the news came out this morning that CB Derek Cox will not play. This is a huge blow for a Jacksonville team that is about to go up against a high-powered Green Bay offense.

The game kicks off from Lambeau Field at 1:00 pm EST on CBS. Next week, the Jaguars return home for the first time in a month, when they host Matthew Stafford and the Detroit Lions.

Prediction – Jaguars 6, Packers 44.
